The First Step in a Texas Divorce; talking to an Attorney

Divorce isn't something people usually enjoy and can compound the already high level of stress involved in everyday life.  There are so many feelings that are involved in the process, hurt, burdened, afraid, angry, are a few, there are too many to list.  The following article is going to give you a few tips about why talking to an attorney before a divorce is a good idea and can be beneficial for you.  Divorce should not be taken on alone and I encourage you to schedule a free consultation by calling 832-777-8924 or by sending an email to chadzubilaw@gmail.com.
The first real step in obtaining a divorce should be a consultation with a qualified family law attorney.  It is a good idea to get a good overview from an attorney about what to expect before plunging into the often complicated divorce process.  Here is a list of a few good reasons to schedule a consultation.

1. A Texas family law attorney will be able to give you ways to help accomplish your ends in your family law case.  An example of such ends would be how to obtain the right to dictate where your child lives or how to prove that something is your separate property or how to make sure you get as much of your retirement account as you are entitled to.

2. An attorney will be able to tell you whether you should file now or later.  Are you in need of temporary orders while the case is going on?  What should you do with your assets while the case is going on and beforehand?  Sometimes these are tricky situations and a family law attorney can help you make those decisions.

3. You need to get to know a little bit about your potential attorney.  You should not pick just any attorney to handle your case and it is a good idea to see if the attorney you are thinking about choosing is compatible with your personality.  You are undertaking a major part of your life with them so you should know them well.

4. It is a good idea to meet with an attorney in a family law consultation to learn what your role is in the case vs. what the attorney's role is.  This issue will help resolve many questions and concerns about how your case is going to proceed.  You will find that the attorney will take much of the hassle out of your hands and at the Law Office of Chad Zubi we intend to make this transition from married to single as seamless and easy as possible.
